Well, I had to do it for a period of time too. Tried to focus on details in Bible accounts that are seldom emphasized, like the enormous number of killed people (comparing it with the size of our assembies) and other tricky stuff. Brothers and sisters love it to hear new things... and after all it is in the Bible, so you can't go wrong

Help - I'm going to be conducting the watchtower study
by Saltheart Foamfollower init looks like i'm going to have to take the watchtower study for a while so i thought i'd seek help.. i wont be outing myself or stating anything too controversial, but so far i have come up with the following tactics : 1) ask questions which will get people thinking even if it is about something insignificant - developing a questioning mind is the key to discovering ttat as far as i am concerned.
2) highlight any extreme points so that some might realise they are extreme.
3) highlight any good points - helping others in need for example - just because it is the right thing to do.. if anyone has any general comments which could help, please post them here.

Wild thing has a point. Even one who is reproved and on "restictions" is never denied the "privilege" of preaching.

Are there more ex-witnesses than current witnesses?
by stuckinarut2 infor years the society has said that over 40,000 a year are disfellowshipped.
add to that the 10's of thousands who simply disassociate or fade.... so by that logic, would it be correct to assume there are actually more former witnesses on the earth than the number of current active witnesses ?

I am also one of the eight milion, because I would miss my loved ones if I wasn't. So the real number is not eight milion...

Challenging JWs at Cult Carts
by cofty inif i have time i always talk to jws when i see a cult cart.. they are in a public forum promoting a harmful ideology therefore they are fair game.
having said that, the individual jws on the trolley are not the enemy so i think it's better to keep it as friendly and non-confrontational as possible.. being realistic no jw is going to admit they are wrong because of something we say to them on the street but don't underestimate the long-term effect of doubts.. so what are your ideas for how to approach them?.
personally i like to use the literature on the cart.

@Freddo
I used that very point at the midweek meeting in a demonstration. I made my assistent play furious about the covering up of child abuse in false religion.... I still have to be on stage in order to stay in (for my wife), but I like to use my time wisely

Fed up with Prince? try: Un petit blog de France
by Half banana ini have just spent ten days working in france, i arrived late on friday night and the first thing saturday morning two visitors ominously strolled into my garden..
i was offered the flimsy awake which i opened and was immediately struck with a very false image.
the article gave the feel that the magazine was scientifically credible.

As a witness, I used to have conversations like that. Of course I always tried to defend my faith. It was the truth after all, wasn't it. But slowly these conversations added up, and these helped me to see ttatt eventually. -

Real Prophecy vs. Watchtower Prophecies
by Perry inwhile we had our eyes fixated on our "one-time" idol the watchtower and their false prophecies like the generation of 1914 that wouldn't pass away, 1975 etc.
; a number of real prophecies were unfolding.
we just weren't taught to look for them.

Would we exist if Adam and Eve didn't sin?
by truth doubter inmy son asked me 40 years ago.
should we be glad adam sinned?
because if he hadn't, we would not be the person we are.. any opinions?
-

In case that story was correct, of course we wouldn't live but others would instead of us. And in case Adam and Eve would not sin, surely one of their offspring would. So the idea that the paradise was going to last was out of the question anyway (from a witness viewpoint). -

Religion, a part of the American way of Life.
by Gorbatchov infound this picture on the twitter account and it makes a wider perspective to me.. the jw religion is so part of the american way of life, just like the other religions in the us.. in the jw growth rate country's there is a market for this "better" life.
the religion makes it possible.. western europe had that marketing mix need after world war 2 and maybe a part of the cold war.. see the picture, and you know, the similarities with the jw religion, the change will be in details and not fundamental.. gorby.

I have a question.
by DATA-DOG inaccording to jwism, god didn't cause suffering, he just allowed it.
wow, that's really, really, dumb.
to help humans out, jeehoobidoob provided the ransom.

I always like to say that pain, suffering and death were there before the "sin" came into the world. Animals were in existence and dying before humans started to live on earth, weren't they? Witnesses are not used to these kind of statements from a "fellow-witness"
